Hi all! I have a terrifyingly short time to go before the flight, but for the moment let’s watch some fireworks. To reach Sydney, I walked 100km down the Great North Walk from the Hawkesbury River. It was a much better experience than I thought it would be and I wish I could have taken my time. Walking down a very rough, rocky bush track in a national park, seeing no roads or houses or people for kilometres on end and then seeing Maps pin you in the middle of Sydney is quite something. It made me very proud of my adopted country. I also walked through Kelly’s Bush, a nice spot by the harbour where union workers in the 70s refused to build houses in what was called the world’s first ‘green ban’. I walked 25km this morning to catch the last ferry out before they shut New Years Eve services, and happily did it before 10am.
I’ll post most of my updates and videos on Instagram and YouTube before I post them here, but I don’t want to support those companies too much at this time so feel free to follow along on this website. A new video will be out at midnight – and every single Sunday from then on.
